Musicologist Ulrich Mosch, born in Stuttgart in 1955, studied at Hanover's state music and theater academy Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover as well as at the Berlin Institute of Technology under Carl Dahlhaus and Helga de la Motte-Haber where he did his doctorate on the topic of «Musical Listening of Serial Music». This was followed in 2004 by postdoctoral studies at the University of Salzburg where he subsequently became a private lecturer. Besides this he also teaches at IRCAM in Paris and Centre Acanthes in Metz. Since 2013 he has been Professor of Musicology at the University of Geneva. Between 1990 and 2013 he was Research Associate at the Paul Sacher Foundation in Basel where, as curator,

he was responsible for 24 composers' bequests and collections including those of Igor Stravinsky, György Kurtág, Hans Werner Henze, Luciano Berio and Helmut Lachenmann. Among other things Ulrich Mosch is the editor of the writings of Wolfgang Rihm and writes texts on music history and musical aesthetics primarily of the 20 th and 21 st century. He is also interested in the connection between music and other art forms – in particular dance, film and fine art – in music perception, the history of listening, musical interpretation and reproduction and music in the media. Since 2010 Ulrich Mosch has returned as a regular lecturer at the Darmstadt Summer Courses where he already previously lectured in the 90s.
