This series of 'music salons' takes place at the Alhambra, where stage and hall are going to merge. Bringing together two unusual groups, a quintet of contrabass clarinets and a percussion quintet, in collaboration with Eklekto and the DAAD of Berlin, we have commissioned no less than ten works from diverse Swiss and European composers: Thomas Kessker, William Blank, Oscar Bianchi, Ricardo Eizirik, Jürg Frey, and a future winner of the Kiefer Hablitzel Prize for Switzerland; Enno Poppe, Rebecca Saunders, Mark André, and Peter Ablinger for Europe.
This event is not proposed as a concert but as a series of salons where one can listen to the works, converse with the musicians and composers, participate in a radio broadcast, and discover this extreme instrument that is the contrabass clarinet in the company of its greatest virtuosos: Armand Angster, Ernesto Molinari…
