Frej Wedlund

Swedish composer, born Tuesday October 15, 1991, in Östersund

Frej Wedlund is a 25-year old composer from Östersund, Sweden. He comes from a mixed background of musical background and started composing at 17 years old. His body of works mainly consists of orchestral and chamber music, but he also composes for electroacoustic mediums. He is a Bachelor’s degree graduate of the Royal College of Music, Stockholm, where he studied with Per Mårtensson and Pär Lindgren. Previously,

he has participated in masterclasses with Johannes Schöllhorn, Simon Steen-Andersen, Eivind Buene, Jaime Reis, Mathias Steinauer and Rolf Martinsson.   Frejs music has been performed by ensembles such as Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, OU Symphony, Norrbotten NEO and Musica Vitae in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Ukraine and the USA. The orchestral work Half-light on desolation recently won first prize in 4x4 Prizes at Oklahoma University with the OU Symphony.
