Olivier Vivarès was born in France in 1980.

At first he studied at the Conservatoire National de Région de Marseille in the class of Claude Crousier. Next he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Lyon, to study with Jacques Di Donato and Robert Bianchiotto until 2002, after which he obtained a Master's degree on Bass Clarinet in the class of Armand Angster and Jean-Marc Foltz. In 2006 he concluded his training with a soloist diploma from the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen with Prof. Chen Halevi.

In June 2005 he took part in the 3rd International Clarinet Competition «Carl Nielsen». He was

awarded the overall 2nd Prize, the Prize awarded by the Odense Symphony Orchestra and finally the Prize for the best interpretation of Caprice, composed for Competition by Anders Koppel.

He has played with the ensemble Accroche Note (Strasbourg), recording the CD Simulacres with works by Georges Aperghis which was released by Accord/ Universal.

Owing to his interest in contemporary music, Olivier Vivarès became a member of Klangforum Wien in 2007. With the ensemble he has performed in concerts at the Ars Musica festival (Brussels), the Salzburg Festival, the Venice Biennale, Klangspuren, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Wien Modern and the Wiener Festwochen.
