David Sonton Caflisch was born in Basel in 1974 and raised in the Canton of Graubünden. After completing teaching and concert diploma for violin in the works of Michael Gebauer in Zurich in 1997/98 he continued his violin studies in Stuttgart (taught by Ingolf Turban) and Basel (Hansheinz Schneeberger). Supported by Schneeberger, he specalised on the interpretation of contemporary music.
