Mediation
Archipel 2018 combines different approaches: concerts; shows; sound, plastic and poetic installations; cinema; radio broadcasts… Like every year, we are also organising a variety of awareness and mediation activities for young audiences. Entre Chou et Loup, a show for children aged 6 and above, was created at the Am Stram Gram theatre. Students from the Confederation of Music Schools of Geneva are preparing a performance of Tierkreis by Karlheinz Stockhausen. The string orchestra United Strings of Europe is coming from London to present a workshop and create the pieces for the pre-vocational students in Arturo Corrales' class at the Conservatory of Popular Music in Geneva. The Cosmopolitan Workshop will unite young composers who are Masters students at the
Geneva School of Music and at the Conservatory of Music in Lyon for a concert made up of a mixture of creative musical works.
So as to combat the lack of understanding it arouses among music-lovers, the saga of contemporary music must be explained and popularized. I will be giving a series of conferences on art-science and its founding works. There will be public meetings with the artists attending the festival: Bernard Cavanna, Arno Fabre, Xavier Garcia, David Hudry, Hector Parra, Michael Pelzel, Alberto Posadas and Katharina Rosenberger. A large space has been set aside in the programme for the great historical composers of modern adventure: Donatoni, Hauer, Hiller, Lévinas, Lucier, Riotte, Stockhausen, Tenney, Xenakis, Yun and Varèse.
