Hologram
Hector Parra (1976) has always been fascinated by fundamental physics. New cosmological models, quantum theory and gravitational waves are already the subjects of his previous works, such as his opera Hypermusic about a book by particle physicist Lisa Randall. Limite les rêves au-delà, for cello and a real-time 8-channel electronic system, was co-produced by Grame, Ruhrtriennale and the Concertgebouw Brugge, led by the great Belgian cellist
Arne Deforce. According to Susskind's amazing concept of holographic principle, the universe is a three-dimensional hologram whose reality is coded in two dimensions within the confines of space and time; we are only the holographic projection of information situated on the cosmological horizon. The speculation, at this stage of abstraction, verges on poetry and its fantastical character inspires Parra; it is our modern fairy tale.
