Chia-Ying Lin (b. 1990) is a composer from Taiwan. Her works have earned international recognition since 2015, including a third prize at the First International Jean Sibelius Composition Competition (Finland), a first prize at the International Composition Competition Piero Farulli (Italy), a second prize at the International Composition Competition Michele Novaro (Italy), and a first prize at William Howard's Love Song Composing Competition (UK). Notable recent honours also include a commission prize from the Goethe-Institut Korea for its «Asian Composers Showcase 2017». Chia-Ying's works have been performed in Taiwan, the UK, Finland, Italy, Hungary and South Korea by the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra as well as various ensembles and soloists including Ensemble TIMF, Classikan Ensemble, Psappha, Quartetto Maurice and Vaganza, at festivals such as Taiwan International Music Festival, Taipei International New Music Festival, National Theater & Concert Hall's «Innovation Series» (TW), 'PlayIt!' Festival (Florence), Musiche in Mostra (IT), Mänttä Music Festival (FI), Leamington Music Festival Weekend (UK), Tongyeong International Music Festival (KR), Asia Culture Center Contemporary Arts Festival (KR) in venues including the National Concert Hall (TW), Teatro Verdi (Florence), Hämeenlinna Town Hall (FI), Serlachius-museo Gösta (FI),

Budapest Music Center (HU), Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall (UK), Senate House (London), Hoxton Hall (London), Tongyeong Concert Hall (KR) and Asia Culture Center (KR). Her String Quartet was published by Casa Ricordi (Milan). A recording of her orchestral work Occultra was released by the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, while the piano piece Chanson Perpétuelle by Orchid Classics (London) in summer 2018. Her music has been broadcast on Yle (FI), Rai Radio 3 (IT), Tilos Radio (HU) and Bravo Radio (TW). Chia-Ying studied composition at the Taipei National University of the Arts with Tsung-Hsien Yang. In 2013 she completed a Master's degree at the University of Manchester with Distinction, studying composition with Philip Grange with a Harry Clough Award. She is currently studying at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome with a two-year scholarship from the Taiwanese government. Supported by Taiwan Music Institute, Chia-Ying completed a six-month mentorship programme in 2017 at the Peter Eötvös Contemporary Music Foundation in Budapest, where she attended various masterclasses with such composers/conductors as Peter Eötvös and Pascal Dusapin. In September 2017, her mini-opera Under the Moonlight was premiered at the Budapest Music Center.
