Xavier Palá i Nossas was born in Ponts, a little town in Catalonia. It is there that he had his first contacts with nature and music, two capital elements which, in his art, interact as inspiration and way of creation. Seeds, planted by his family and his teacher J. LL. Guzmán-Antich, were watered at the «Escolania de Montserrat», an essential period in his education, in which he discovered the counterpoint of the 16th and 17th-century. The Leaves were then carefully kept by the Conservatory of Cervera. Following that, Xavier devoted himself to the Pedagogy of Piano at the «Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya» (ESMUC) in Barcelona. Finally, he got the chance to study Composition
at the Haute école de musique de Genève with Michael Jarrell, Luis Naón, Éric Daubresse and Santiago Diez-Fischer, as well as Orchestra Conducting with Laurent Gay for two years. A major step during which his creation could develop its own style. He has received several commissions in Spain and Switzerland and also, he participated in numerous projects proposed by the city of Geneva. He has been honored with the prize Jingles (selection of a radiophonic jingle) from «La Maison de l'Histoire & RTS Histoire Vivante». Recently, the Ensemble Contrechamps performed the premiere of Candy Pops, a work for electric guitar, percussion, flute and cello. Xavier also teaches piano and gives piano concerts.
