Zara Ali (b.1995) is an American composer and pianist. In 2018, Ali graduated cum laude from Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, studying composition primarily with Georg F. Haas and Zosha Di Castri. In 2017, Zara received the illustrious Joseph H. Burns Fund Prize for Chamber Composition. Formerly Zara is a grand prizewinner in the Music Institute of Chicago's Generation Next Composition Competition (2013). Zara is currently pursuing her masters at McGill University, studying privately with French composer Philippe Leroux. She is currently pursuing more interdisciplinary projects in Montreal and is heavily involved in electro-acoustic composition at McGill's Digital Composition Studio.
