Clemens K. Thomas (*1992) is currently earning an Artistic Diploma at the Musikhochschule Freiburg under the guidance of Johannes Schöllhorn. Previously, he graduated at the same institution with degrees in composition (BM, MM) and harpsichord (BM). His main interests are the creative handling of musical tradition and vocal music—especially in musical theatre. His portfolio contains mostly chamber music; vocal and musical theater pieces; room-situated compositions for concerts in a mine or in an old bus; as well as installative works. Since 2014, Clemens has worked as the artistic director of

the project „NEUES ZEUG - Musik aus dem Jetzt für junge Entdecker*innen«[„new gears - contemporary music for young developers«] with the aim of increasing the repertoire of contemporary music with pedagogical purposes. The meeting and cooperation of a composer with an instrumental teacher and their pupils is a prominent point of this project. Clemens reflects on contemporary culture by thinking about possibilities and perspectives of cooperation, education, and the making of art. He has been appointed as an expert to the Municipal Committee on Culture in Freiburg.
