"Barblina Meierhans creates works in the disciplines of instrumental composition, music theatre and installations. She reduces rather than elaborates and seeks to discover the essence of a sound-related situation. It is in this specific regard that their farthest-reaching abstract links are forged."

Barblina Meierhans studied initially violin, viola, experimental music theatre and transdisciplinarity at Zurich and Bern University of Arts and developped her compositional language first autodidactically. In succession, she studied composition at Dresden University of Music with Prof. Manos Tsangaris and Prof. Mark Andre, where she completed 2015 her Master of Music and 2017 the ‚Meisterklasse' in composition. She has been inspired in her work i.a. by Mark Andre, Manos Tsangaris, Franz Martin Olbrisch, Georges Aperghis and Daniel Weissberg. Her music has been played mainly in german speaking countries, in some occasions also in France, Italy, Poland, the United Kingdom, India,

South Corea and Argentina, and her pieces were presented among others at Kammer Klang London, mikromusik and Ultraschall Festival Berlin, Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, Festival Rümlingen, Festival Archipel, Kontraklang Berlin, New Talents Biennale Cologne, Akademie der Künste Berlin, Kyung Hee University Seoul, Sächsische Akademie der Künste and Tonlagen Festival Dresden.
Barblina Meierhans has received several awards and was in artist residencies in different parts of the world. She became involved on different levels in the fields of teaching and science, has given workshops i.a. in Hannover (Musik 21) and Cairo (IMTGC), 2016/2017 she gave a tutorial i.a. in ‚fluxus and actual consequences' at Dresden University of Music and a module in ‚Material schlachten' in Co-teaching with Prof. Dr. Mira Sack at Zurich University of Arts.
