The cello-percussion duo UmeDuo performs internationally with a diverse repertoire and has established itself as one of the most innovative young chamber music groups from Sweden. The sisters Karolina Öhman (cello) and Erika Öhman (percussion) founded the duo in 2008 and performed extensively throughout Europe, in venues such as Queen Elisabeth Hall London, Musikinstrumentenmuseum Berlin, Tonhalle Zürich and Gothenburg Concert House. They have been invited to several renowned festivals including reMusik St Petersburg, Festspiele Zürich, Tehran Contemporary Music Festival, Klang Copenhagen, Sound of Stockholm, Periferien Oslo, Tage für Neue Musik Zürich and IGNM Basel. UmeDuo is dedicated to expanding the repertoire for cello and percussion and to collaborate with composers from all over the world. They have commissioned and premiered duos by André Chini, Leilei Tian, Ricardo Eizirik, Elena Rykova, Anahita Abbasi, Malin Bång and Teresa Carrasco among others. Transcriptions

of music from earlier eras compliment the duos repertoire. Shortly after its foundation the duo became winners of the Alumni Förder-prize for artistic projects from the Zurich University of the Arts (ZhdK), and were admitted into the Park Lane Group concert agency in London. The duo won the 1st prize at the 2013 Swedish Chamber music association competition, which resulted in a one month long tour throughout Sweden during the 2014-2015 season. UmeDuo perform to diverse audiences and are devoted to promoting a broader understanding of contemporary music. School concerts and workshops with children are also important elements of UmeDuos activities. During their studies the duo received significant musical input from musicians such as Thomas Grossenbacher, Mike Svoboda and Anders Loguin. In 2019 tours are planned in Bosnia, Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland among other places.
