Salon de musique - 03.31 2:30pm

Erika Öhman studied with Anders Loguin at the Royal College of Music, Stockholm, and with Neil Percy, Colin Currie, Eric Sammut and David Searcy at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she graduated with First Class Honours in 2007. At the Royal Academy she was twice given the Avedis Zildjian Award for outstanding percussion playing. During her studies she was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival. Within a year of graduating Erika joined the Hallé Orchestra as assistant timpanist and

percussionist, a position she has held for the last 8 years. She freelances with various orchestras in the UK and Sweden, including as guest principal with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Philharmonia. Erika is also a member of the London-based contemporary music group Ensemble Amorpha, which specialises in performing innovative modern chamber music in a variety of performance formats, collaborating with artists from all creative fields. In May 2013, Erika was honoured to be made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
