Die vierbeinige Krähe («the Four-Legged Crow») is a short text by Russian absurdist Daniil Charms (1905-1942) varying Aesop's Fable The Fox and the Crow. The four-legged Crow (strictly speaking, it had five legs, but that's not worth talking about) bought itself some coffee and thought about what to do with it. To make it even worth, a fox ran by. After a ridiculous dialogue (Fox: «hey,

you, crow!» — Crow: «Crow yourself!» — Fox: «And you, crow, you are a pig!») the crow was so insulted that it spilled the coffee. The fox ran off, the crow went home. End of the story. Text from: „Werke. Band 1: Prosa«by Daniil Charms Translated from Russian into German by Beate Rausch Published by Galiani, Berlin © 2010, Verlag Kiepenheuer & Witsch GmbH & Co. KG, Köln
