This is the story of an impossible communication. A violoncello cannot go along with a piano (despite Beethoven). This is the reason why Zimmermann dedicates them an anti-sonata in which cello takes its independence. Even more serious: a mouth and its text do not listen to each other any more (Beckett's Not I filmed by Neil Jordan – in a rather different style from his Interview with the vampire). As for quoting a Lied by Schubert in a contemporary composition... you must be dreaming!
