A two-fold movement of music denaturing and denaturalizing has been noticed for many years. Music has long been confined to a specialized stage, which deprived it of contact with other arts, and to national schools who confronted fictitiously their aesthetics. The music world has now understood that its future consists in encounters and open-mindedness. More than ever, our music is impure; its strength is rooted in performances and melting pot.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Archipel questions this double movement: music at the crossroads of arts, and facing theatre, video, settings; musicians in Switzerland, seen as a crossroads of people. A model of miniature Europe – a model that the genuine Europe has still not followed. A multicultural federation united by a common history, open to the world's influences.
